Copper Gutter Cost in New Jersey

Copper is the most expensive common gutter material, and the spread between a simple job and a complex one is wide. The table below shows New Jersey ranges for copper K-style, half-round and downspouts; here is what moves a project within them.

Price ranges for copper gutters

Researched New Jersey market ranges, gathered from published contractor price guides and national cost surveys in October 2026. They are not our quote: your price comes from a free on-site estimate, and we will replace these ranges with our own rates.

  • Seamless copper K-style gutter, installed: $20 to $60 per linear foot, typically about $33.50
  • Half-round copper gutter, installed: $19 to $40 per linear foot, typically about $31
  • Copper downspout, installed: $14 to $34 per linear foot, typically about $20

Profile and sheet weight

Seamless copper K-style ranges from $20 to $60 per foot installed, the widest band of any gutter in the table. Half-round copper is narrower, from $19 to $40 per foot. Heavier copper sheet costs more and holds its shape better on long, exposed runs, so the weight specified on a quote matters when comparing numbers.

Larger sizes, such as 6-inch on a steep roof, use more metal per foot and cost more for the same reason.

Downspouts add up

Copper downspouts are priced per foot, from $14 to $34, with $20 a typical figure. On a two- or three-story house with several downspouts, that footage can be a meaningful share of the total. Round or plain rectangular, corrugated or smooth, and the style of straps all change the price.

Soldering, corners and details

  • Every corner, end cap, outlet and joint is soldered by hand, so a roofline with many corners costs more than a straight one
  • Decorative brackets, leader heads and conductor heads add both material and labor
  • Matching copper fasteners and straps cost more than aluminum ones but are required to avoid corrosion
  • Old gutter removal and fascia repair are priced the same way as on any gutter installation

Reading a copper quote

A complete copper quote lists the profile and size, the copper sheet weight, total gutter footage, the number and type of corners, downspout count, size and footage, the bracket or hanger style, and how transitions to any non-copper material are handled. If one quote is far below the others, check sheet weight and whether joints are soldered or only sealed.

Copper over the long run

Per foot, copper costs roughly three times what aluminum does. Spread across its lifespan, which can reach 50 years or more against 20 to 30 for aluminum, the gap narrows, especially on a home you plan to keep. Copper also never needs painting. If the budget does not stretch to the whole house, copper on the front elevation with matching half-round aluminum elsewhere is a common compromise.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

4 questions and answers.

Why is copper K-style priced so widely?

The low end reflects simple one-story runs in lighter sheet; the high end covers tall, cut-up rooflines, heavier copper, many soldered corners and decorative hardware. Most homes land near the typical figure in the table below.

Is half-round copper cheaper than copper K-style?

Comparing typical figures, they are close, and half-round's top range is lower. The real difference on a given house comes from size, sheet weight, the number of joints and the hardware chosen.

Can I add copper gutters to just part of the house?

Yes. Many owners put copper on the street-facing sides and aluminum at the back. The transition has to keep the two metals from touching, which a good installer designs in. Book a free estimate to price both options.

Does copper add to resale value?

It can add appeal on historic and high-end homes where buyers recognize it. It is rarely a dollar-for-dollar return, so choose copper mainly because you want its look and lifespan.
