What gutters do for a house
A roof sheds a surprising amount of water. Gutters collect it at the eaves and downspouts carry it away from the walls, so it does not soak the foundation, splash mud onto siding, rot fascia boards or wear a trench in the flower beds. When gutters overflow, leak at the seams or pull away from the house, that water goes exactly where you do not want it.
Gutter services for homeowners
Most homes need one of five things, and many need two at once.
- Gutter installation: new seamless gutters and downspouts, for a house with none, failing ones or a new roof
- Gutter guards: Gutter Cap covers, color-matched to the roof, for houses under trees
- Gutter cleaning: debris removed by hand, downspouts flushed, and a check of every run
- Gutter repair: resealing leaking seams, re-hanging sagging sections and fixing loose downspouts
- Heater Cap heated gutters: self-regulating heat cable in the gutter and the downspout, for roofs that form ice dams
Which service does your house need?
The symptoms usually point to the answer.
- Water pours over the front edge in a heavy rain: often a clog, sometimes gutters too small for the roof
- Drips at the corners or along the run: seams or end caps that need resealing
- A gutter that dips or pulls off the fascia: loose hangers, or rotted wood behind them
- Cleaning more than twice a year and still overflowing: guards are worth a look
- Icicles and ice ridges at the eaves every winter: heated gutters, along with checking attic insulation
- Rust, many patched joints or several failing runs: replacement usually costs less over time than repeated repairs
Choosing gutters for a new installation
Three choices shape a new system. The profile is the shape: K-style fits most houses with siding, while half-round and box profiles suit older homes and historic districts. The size is usually 5-inch or 6-inch; steep or large roof planes send more water to one run and often need the larger size and bigger downspouts. The material is most often aluminum, with copper chosen for its look and long life on period homes. The estimator will recommend a combination for your roof and explain why.
How the free estimate works
- Book a free estimate online or by phone.
- An estimator walks the house, measures each run and looks at the fascia, downspouts and where the water drains.
- You get a written quote with the options explained, and time to decide.
- If you go ahead, the crew installs or services the gutters, cleans up and runs water to check the flow.
Looking after gutters through a New Jersey year
Spring brings maple seeds and oak tassels, summer brings short, heavy downpours, and fall drops most of the leaves in a few weeks. Winter freeze-thaw cycles then test every hanger and seam. A cleaning after the last leaves fall, a look at the gutters each spring, and quick repair of any leak you spot will keep most systems working for many years.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
7 questions and answers in 5 topics: Pricing, Process, Guards, Warranty, Service area.
Pricing
How do I get a quote?
Call (888) 611-3987 or request a free estimate online. The office is open Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.
Process
Should I repair my gutters or replace them?
Repair makes sense when the problem is local: one leaking seam, a few loose hangers or a damaged downspout. Replacement makes sense when leaks keep returning in different places, the metal is corroded, or the gutters are pitched wrong along their whole length. The estimator will tell you which applies and show you why.
Can you put new gutters on a house with rotted fascia?
Not directly. Hangers need solid wood to hold, so soft or rotted fascia has to be dealt with before new gutters go up. The estimator checks the fascia during the visit and includes what is needed in the quote, so it is not a surprise on installation day.
Do heated gutters replace my existing gutters?
No. The Heater Cap system retrofits most existing aluminum and copper gutters in good condition, or it can go on at the same time as new gutters. It heats both the gutter and the downspout so meltwater can drain instead of refreezing at the roof edge.
Guards
Do gutter guards mean I never clean my gutters again?
Guards greatly reduce cleaning, but no cover is zero maintenance. Fine debris such as pine needles and seed pods can collect on top and need brushing off now and then. On houses with heavy tree cover, guards usually turn several cleanings a year into an occasional check.
Warranty
What warranty does New Jersey Gutter offer?
New Jersey Gutter backs its work with a workmanship warranty. It covers how the job was done: seams, hangers, pitch and fastening. Gutters, guards and other products also carry their manufacturer's material warranty. Your length and terms are written on your estimate and invoice.
