Siding Repair

Siding damage is often local: a panel torn off in a windstorm, a crack from a stray baseball or a section stained and loosened by a leaking gutter. When the rest of the wall is sound, those spots can be repaired without re-siding the house.

Vinyl panel repair

Vinyl panels lock into each other, so a damaged panel can be unlocked with a zip tool, unfastened and replaced with a new one without disturbing the rest of the wall. The challenge is matching: vinyl fades over time, and discontinued colors and profiles may not match exactly. A common solution is to take a matching panel from a less visible wall for the repair and put the new panel there.

Fiber cement board repair

Cracked or broken fiber cement boards are cut out and replaced with new boards of the same profile and exposure. The new board is nailed, caulked and painted to match. Small chips can sometimes be patched and painted. Boards that are swelling or delaminating at the bottom edge usually point to water, often from a missing flashing or splashback from a roof or gutter.

Loose panels, trim and soffit

Panels that have unlocked in the wind, trim that has pulled away and soffit panels that have dropped are refastened or replaced. Loose aluminum fascia wrap is a frequent issue, and since the gutter hangs on the fascia, a loose or rotted fascia board is fixed before the gutter is reattached. See gutter repair for that side of it.

Finding the cause

Repeated damage in one area usually has a cause. Stains and rot below a roof edge point to a missing kickout flashing or an overflowing gutter. Damage near the ground often comes from splashback where a downspout empties. Repairing the siding without correcting the water source means repairing it again, so the source is checked as part of every repair.

I hired NJ Gutters to replace my 5" K-styles. They recommended a 6" replacement and suggested round, rather than the typical rectangular downspouts. I am totally pleased with their work and the results. They worked neatly and cleaned up well before leaving. I would recommend NJ Gutters without hesitation. When they received my check, they called me back to tell me that I missed an available discount by paying by check rather than credit card. The invited my to send in the discounted amount, a savings of almost $100. That is a class act!

New Jersey Gutter went above and beyond for us. We got several estimates from local gutter companies and Jim gave his honest opinion of our gutter situation after a house remodel. The price was fair, but even more than that, once we signed with them Jim and Rachel went above and beyond to help us get the work done within a very specific window of time. My husband, who is very particular, was very pleased with the work they did, and for me, that says a lot. If we ever need gutter assistance again we know who to call.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

6 questions and answers in 4 topics: Pricing, Process, Warranty, Service area.

Pricing

How do I get a quote?

Call (888) 611-3987 or request a free estimate online. The office is open Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.

Process

Can you match my existing siding?

Often closely, if the profile and color are still made. If not, swapping panels from a hidden wall onto the visible one gives the closest match.

Is it worth repairing old siding?

A few damaged panels on otherwise sound siding are worth repairing. When damage is widespread or the siding is brittle and faded everywhere, siding replacement is usually the better value.

Why does the siding below my gutter keep getting stained?

The gutter is likely overflowing, leaking at a seam or pitched wrong. Fixing the gutter stops the staining, and the siding can then be cleaned or repaired.

Warranty

What warranty does New Jersey Gutter offer?

New Jersey Gutter backs its work with a workmanship warranty. It covers how the job was done: seams, hangers, pitch and fastening. Gutters, guards and other products also carry their manufacturer's material warranty. Your length and terms are written on your estimate and invoice.
