Gutter Guard Cost in NJ

Gutter guards are priced by the linear foot of gutter covered. The table below shows market ranges for each guard type in New Jersey; the notes below explain where a given house lands inside those ranges.

Price ranges for gutter guards

Researched New Jersey market ranges, gathered from published contractor price guides and national cost surveys in October 2026. They are not our quote: your price comes from a free on-site estimate, and we will replace these ranges with our own rates.

  • Micro-mesh gutter guard (stainless mesh), installed: $7 to $40.50 per linear foot, typically about $10
  • Reverse-curve / surface-tension (helmet-style) guard, installed: $12 to $60 per linear foot, typically about $41.22
  • Screen / perforated aluminum guard, installed: $3 to $12 per linear foot, typically about $7
  • Foam insert guard, installed: $1 to $4 per linear foot, typically about $2.50
  • Brush guard, installed: $3 to $3 per linear foot, typically about $3

Guard type sets the range

The material is the biggest single factor. Foam inserts and brushes sit at the bottom of the table, with foam starting as low as $1 per foot. Screens are a step up, with a typical price of $7 per foot. Micro-mesh, with a typical price of $10 per foot, and reverse-curve covers run higher because they use rigid frames and heavier materials and are fastened more carefully.

The wide spread inside each row reflects quality. A light mesh that snaps into the gutter costs far less than a stainless mesh on an aluminum frame that is screwed to the gutter lip.

Length, height and roofline

Total footage drives the bill, so a long ranch and a compact colonial can cost about the same. Height adds labor: second- and third-story runs need more ladder setups and slower work. Each inside and outside corner needs guard pieces cut and fitted, and steep or complicated rooflines take longer than a plain gable.

The condition of the gutters underneath

A guard is only worth installing on gutters that drain. Expect a quote to include a cleaning first, and possibly resealing seams, resetting loose hangers or correcting pitch. Those items are priced separately in the gutter repair cost guide. If the gutters are worn out, pricing new gutters and guards together often makes more sense than covering an old system.

How to read a guard quote

  • The guard type and material named, not just a style description.
  • The number of linear feet covered, matching the gutters on the house.
  • Whether cleaning and flushing before installation are included.
  • Any repairs listed as separate lines, so you can see what each costs.
  • How the guard attaches and whether the roof edge is left undisturbed.

Guards compared with paying for cleanings

Guards cost more up front than a single cleaning but cut how often the gutters need attention. Under heavy oak, maple or pine cover, where two or more cleanings a year are normal, they tend to pay back. On an open lot with one easy cleaning a year, a cleaning may stay cheaper. FAQ

Frequently asked questions

4 questions and answers.

Why is micro-mesh priced higher than a screen?

Micro-mesh uses a fine stainless mesh on a rigid frame and is fastened along the gutter, which costs more in material and labor. In return it blocks the needles and grit that pass through a screen.

Are foam and brush guards a good way to save money?

They are the cheapest to install, but they hold fine debris and wear out sooner, so the savings can disappear in extra cleanings and replacement. They suit light debris and short-term needs best.

Does the cleaning before installation cost extra?

It depends on how the quote is written. Some quotes fold the cleaning into the guard price and others list it separately. Ask to see it as its own line so you can compare quotes fairly.

Can I put guards on only part of the house?

Yes. Covering just the runs under the trees lowers the cost. The open runs will still need regular cleaning, so this works best where debris falls mainly on one side of the roof.
