Roof Repair Cost in NJ

Most roof repairs are priced per job, and damaged decking is priced by the sheet. The table below lists researched New Jersey market ranges for both. They are not a quote; the price for your roof comes from a free on-site estimate. These notes explain what moves a repair within the range.

Price ranges for roof repair

Researched New Jersey market ranges, gathered from published contractor price guides and national cost surveys in October 2026. They are not our quote: your price comes from a free on-site estimate, and we will replace these ranges with our own rates.

  • Roof repair minimum call-out: $150 to $300 per job, typically about $225
  • Replace roof deck sheet (plywood/OSB): $75 to $120 each, typically about $97.50

The repair itself

Researched minimum charges for a roof repair run from $150 to $300, with $225 typical. A small repair, such as replacing a few blown-off shingles or a cracked pipe boot on an easy-to-reach roof, usually sits near $150. Repairs that involve some flashing work or a small area of shingles come in near $225. More involved single repairs, such as rebuilding a section of valley or reflashing a chimney side, push toward $300, and above it when several are combined.

Decking found under the shingles

If water has been getting in, the plywood under the leak may be soft. Each damaged sheet is replaced, with researched prices from $75 to $120 per sheet depending on thickness and how hard it is to reach. A good repair quote says up front that decking will be priced by the sheet if it is found, rather than leaving it as a surprise.

Pitch, height and access

A one-story ranch with a walkable slope is quick to set up on. A steep roof on a three-story house needs roof jacks, harnesses and more time moving around, so the same repair costs more. Repairs that can be reached only from a lower roof or over landscaping also take more setup.

How to read a repair quote

  • Where the leak is, and what is causing it.
  • What is being replaced: shingles, flashing, a boot, valley material.
  • Whether decking is included, or priced per sheet if found.
  • Whether the attic or ceiling below will be checked afterward.
  • Any related gutter or fascia work, listed separately.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

4 questions and answers.

Why is there a minimum charge for small repairs?

Every repair needs travel, ladders, safety setup and materials on the truck, even if the fix takes an hour. A per-job minimum covers that setup.

Can several repairs be done in one visit?

Yes, and it usually costs less than separate visits because setup is shared. If the estimator finds a second weak spot, it can be added to the same job.

When does repair stop making sense?

When repairs keep adding up on a worn roof. Compare the total with the roof replacement cost guide before committing to a long list of fixes.

Are these prices a quote?

No. They are researched New Jersey market ranges. Your price comes from inspecting the roof during a free estimate.
