Gutter Installation Cost in NJ

Gutter installation is priced mostly by the linear foot, with corners, downspouts and repairs added on top. The table below shows New Jersey ranges for each piece; here is how to read them against your own house.

Price ranges for gutter installation

Researched New Jersey market ranges, gathered from published contractor price guides and national cost surveys in October 2026. They are not our quote: your price comes from a free on-site estimate, and we will replace these ranges with our own rates.

  • Seamless aluminum K-style gutter, 5-inch, installed: $6 to $20 per linear foot, typically about $10.75
  • Seamless aluminum K-style gutter, 6-inch (oversized), installed: $7 to $22 per linear foot, typically about $13
  • 6-inch over 5-inch upcharge: $1 to $5 per linear foot, typically about $2.75
  • Remove and haul away old gutters: $0.65 to $4 per linear foot, typically about $2
  • Miter / corner: $10 to $25 each, typically about $17.50
  • Aluminum downspout (2x3 / 3x4), installed: $2.50 to $17 per linear foot, typically about $7
  • Fascia repair behind gutters: $2 to $20 per linear foot, typically about $13

Linear feet and stories

Length is the starting point. The installer measures every roof edge that needs a gutter, and the per-foot rate covers forming, hanging and pitching. Seamless 5-inch aluminum typically lands near $10.75 per foot, with simple one-story ranch homes toward the low end and tall, cut-up rooflines toward the high end.

Height pushes the rate up because a second or third story means taller ladders, more setup time and slower, more careful work. Steep lots, decks and dense plantings under the eaves add time too.

Gutter size and downspouts

Choosing 6-inch gutters adds a modest upcharge per foot over 5-inch, shown as its own row in the table below. That upcharge usually comes with larger 3x4 downspouts, which are priced per foot of downspout, so a two-story house with six downspouts carries more downspout footage than many owners expect.

Count the downspouts on your quote. Too few saves money on paper and costs it back in overflow.

Corners, removal and fascia

  • Corners: each inside or outside miter is a separate charge, from $10 to $25 each, so a house with bump-outs and bays costs more than a plain rectangle of the same length
  • Removal: taking down and hauling away the old gutters is priced per foot and is sometimes left off low quotes
  • Fascia: rotted wood behind the old gutters must be replaced before new ones go up; older New Jersey homes with original wood fascia are the most likely to need it

How to read an installation quote

A useful quote names the gutter size, material and color, the total gutter footage, the number and size of downspouts, the number of corners, whether removal is included, how hangers are spaced, and how fascia repair will be priced if the crew finds soft wood. When two quotes differ widely, the gap is usually in one of those lines, not in the per-foot rate.

Ways to keep the cost down

  • Install gutters at the same time as a roof replacement so removal and setup happen once
  • Add gutter guards during installation instead of as a separate visit
  • Ask whether 5-inch with 3x4 downspouts solves an overflow problem before paying for 6-inch everywhere
  • Fix small fascia problems early; replacing a short section costs less than replacing whole sides

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

4 questions and answers.

Is the 6-inch upcharge worth paying?

On large or steep roofs, long runs, and corners fed by valleys, usually yes, because overflow there soaks siding and foundations. On a modest roof with short runs, 5-inch gutters with larger downspouts often perform just as well for less.

Why do quotes for the same house differ so much?

Most of the difference comes from what is included: removal of the old gutters, downspout size and count, corner charges, and how fascia repair is handled. Line up the quotes item by item before comparing the totals.

Will I pay for fascia repair I didn't expect?

Rot is often hidden until the old gutters come off. A clear quote states how fascia repair will be priced per foot if it is found, so the number is not a surprise. You can book a free estimate to have the fascia checked first.

Does the price include cleanup and haul-away?

It should. Ask whether removal and disposal of the old gutters is its own line or built into the per-foot rate, and confirm the crew will clean up metal cut-offs, screws and debris before leaving.
